Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA)!<\/h2>\n\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

A\u202f<\/span>Consular Report of Birth Abroad\u202f<\/span>(CRBA) is a formal document certifying the acquisition of United States citizenship at birth for a person born abroad to a U.S. citizen parent or parents who meet the requirements for transmitting citizenship under the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA).\u00a0 United States non-citizen nationals are also eligible for a Consular Report of Birth Abroad using the non-citizen option.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

CRBA applications must be made before the child\u2019s 18th birthday. We recommend that parents apply for the CRBA as soon as possible after the child\u2019s birth.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t<\/div>\n\n<\/section>\n\n\n

Report Birth Abroad<\/h2>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t

As U.S. citizen parent(s), you should report your child\u2019s birth abroad as soon as possible to the U.S. Consulate where the child was born. A Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA), FS-240, is an official record of U.S. citizenship issued to a person under age 18 who was born abroad to United States citizen parent(s) and acquired citizenship at birth. Schools, the Social Security Agency, and other institutions throughout the United States accept it and give it the same credence they give to birth certificates issued by state authorities in the United States.<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tEligibility for U.S. Citizenship\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Eligibility Requirements<\/h2>\n\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

To apply, your child must have been born in the Philippines and you must travel to U.S. Embassy in Manila or U.S. Consular Agency in Cebu for the in-person interview.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

To be eligible to apply for a CRBA online, you MUST answer all the following criteria with YES.\u00a0 If you answer \u201cno\u201d to one or more of these questions, but believe you or your child may be a U.S. citizen, please write to <\/span>ACSInfoManila@state.gov<\/span><\/a> for further instructions.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

  2. Is the child under the age of 18?<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Was at least one parent a U.S. citizen or U.S. non-citizen national when the child was born?<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Can you use an internationally accepted credit\/debit card to pay online for your Consular Report of Birth Abroad application?<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n

    How to Apply<\/h2>\n\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

    1.) To apply for a CRBA online, you need to create a <\/span><\/span>MyTravelGov<\/span><\/span><\/a> account or sign-in to your existing account. <\/span>MyTravelGov<\/span> is a secured, encrypted portal that you can use to start an <\/span>eCRBA<\/span> application or access an existing <\/span>eCRBA<\/span> application.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    2.) Once you sign in or create a <\/span>MyTravelGov<\/span> account you can access <\/span>eCRBA<\/span> and submit your application online. The easy-to-use online process provides applicants with step-by-step instructions on how to complete the application. You may review the necessary documents for the CRBA application in advance by reviewing this <\/span><\/span>checklist.<\/span><\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    3.) Appointment Details<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

    For Manila Appointment<\/u><\/strong>:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    After completing the online application and payment,\u202fplease\u00a0email\u00a0ManilaCRBAappt@state.gov<\/a> with your proof of payment attached.\u00a0 We will\u00a0reply with the details of your interview\u00a0appointment. Be sure to email your request for appointment schedule at least\u202f72 hours\u202fafter\u00a0submitting payment to allow\u00a0time for\u00a0processing.<\/p>\n

    For Cebu Appointment:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

    To request an appointment at the U.S. Consular Agency in Cebu, please use our online\u202fAppointment Scheduling System.\u202f\u00a0<\/a>Be sure to schedule\u00a0your appointment for\u00a0at least\u202f72 hours\u202fafter\u00a0submitting payment to allow\u00a0time for\u00a0processing.<\/p>\n

    Please note that we no longer accept mailed-in applications due to high demand and processing delays. <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

    4.) Attend your scheduled in-person interview with your\u202f<\/span><\/span>child<\/span><\/span>, <\/span><\/span>original<\/span><\/span>\u202f<\/span><\/span>documents<\/span><\/span>, and their\u202f<\/span><\/span>photocopies<\/span><\/span>\u202f(single-sided). Original documents will be returned to you after reviewing your application. You must provide English translations for all foreign language documents. The child must be present at the time of application.
